Keeping Income in the Community
We train new beekeepers in honeybee care, hive management, queen breeding, and honey harvesting, ensuring that they have the skills to maintain and care for their hives long-term. We help families set up their bee boxes, and when their honey is ready, they can sell it directly back to us at a fair price—ensuring that the value of their hard work returns to their households. That income helps put food on the table, improve family wellbeing, and invest in the future.
Helping Families Invest in Education
One of the most meaningful impacts of beekeeping comes at the beginning of each year.
The honey harvest takes place around the New Year—the same time families are preparing to pay school fees for their children. For many rural households, this income arrives exactly when it is needed most. School costs can include project fees, uniforms, books, and other essential expenses. Over a single year, it can add up to more than 500 kina per child. The money earned from honey gives parents the ability to send their children to school with confidence, creating opportunities that extend far beyond honey. For us, every harvest represents an investment in the next generation.
